Stephany Martinez
Veterinary Assistant
Stephany grew up in Arlington, VA, graduating from Wakefield High School. Ever since she was a little girl, she has always had a passion for helping others and loving pets. While in high school, she was recognized by different humane societies and shelters in the surrounding counties. Her tenure with ODAHC began in 2013, and she has been a model employee ever since. Stephany plays a vital role in every department within our company. She loves to hang out with her two dogs, Loby and Safiro, when she is not working. For two consecutive years, Stephany was Employee of the Year, and we are grateful that she chose our company to make a part of her family.
Hal Edmonds
Veterinary Assistant
Hal was born and raised in the District of Columbia and now resides in Prince George’s County, Maryland. When he was seeking employment, he found the opportunity to be surrounded by the animals that he loves. In his daily duties, Hal gets to bathe, walk, and provide playtime for dogs, clean cages, give medications, and assist the staff as needed. He loves his job!
Hal has a wife, kids, grandkids, a dog, Dianna, and his Old Dominion family. These are his loved ones. His personal interest is doing his best at whatever is asked of him on any given day, even if it is just helping someone or talking to someone. If it will help the team, then Hal is happy to do it. His greatest achievement is just knowing that he can do something that he loves to do and see his babies (the dogs).
Brenda Gray
Boarding Supervisor
Brenda chose the veterinary field because she has a big heart filled with love for animals. A friend suggested she work with animals because every time she would see an animal, she would melt, and the animal would try to run to her (true story). Brenda works in the boarding/bathing/grooming department. Aside from handling paperwork, her main objective is to make the owners and their pets feel comfortable and reassured with love and understanding.
As a pet owner, she knows there is no place like home, but if you must board your pets, ODAHC is ideal, and the staff is the best.
Brenda’s family includes her baby, Chihuahua, who is long-haired, Chula. She proudly served in the United States Army and loves all sports, especially basketball and football. She also loves music, dance, and theatre.
James Cunningham
Boarding Manager
James was born and raised in Washington, D.C. He started working at ODAHCenter in the boarding department back in 2004 when a friend introduced him to our practice! He is the proud father of six children: three sons and three daughters. He also has two fur children, a Cane Corso named Ciroc and a Presa Canario named Kane.
When he’s not working he likes to spend time with his wife Sharon, who is a rehab nurse! He also enjoys hanging out with the rest of his family, he especially enjoys the time he spends with his grandchildren.
Keely O’Connor
Receptionist Supervisor
Keely, the mother of three fur babies, wears many hats at the ODAH Center. She enjoys interacting with both clients and pets as one of our receptionists and veterinary assistants. Keely always serves as a morale boost to her patients, clients, and peers and can often be seen sporting new and exciting hair colors. After a good day’s work at ODAH Center, Keely comes home to her beloved Aussie, Jasper, as well as her cat duo, Salem & Sabrina. Originally born in Okinawa, Japan, Keely rolled through both Massachusetts & Florida before settling down in the Fairfax area. Her vast life experiences have surely equipped her to navigate this uniquely rewarding career.
Keely graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Justice & Human Rights. In her free time, Keely enjoys reading, anime, cosplay, and playing guitar, but most of all, Keely is passionate about helping others in any way she can.
Lorena Calani
Reception Manager
Lorena is from Potosi, Bolivia, and she moved to the USA 18 years ago. When she first started at ODAHC, she thought it would be a temporary job, but shortly after, she realized how the staff had embraced her and treated her like family. This is the reason she’s stayed here for the last 18 years and counting! Lorena worked as a maintenance supervisor for a few years before getting a promotion to her current position as a receptionist.
She loves her job because it is a great way to interact with other people and provide good customer service. Lorena talks to clients by phone, sets up appointments, files documents, assists the veterinarians when needed, and makes sure the clients are always happy.
Lorena’s entire family is in Bolivia, but here in America, it’s just her and her daughter, Geraldine. They also have a pet parakeet named Polly, who was a rescue. Lorena’s daughter is working on graduating from Christopher Newport University and pursuing a career in Business Information Science. Polly, on the other hand, enjoys honey treats. Lorena’s biggest goal is getting her daughter through college, and for herself – well, she hopes to achieve more opportunities to grow professionally in this career.
Cherish Merryman
Office Manager
Cherish first started working at ODAH Center in 2001 as a Boarding Supervisor and moved through every department before landing her current role as Office Manager. She is an avid pug lover and enjoys rescuing all the stray cats in her neighborhood.
She currently has 4 of those neighborhood cats, one shepherd mix, Rzr, and a retired off-the-track thoroughbred, Mox, as part of her 4-legged family. Cherish also has 2 children. Her oldest is currently studying at Old Dominion University, while her youngest is still attending high school. In her free time at ODAH Center, she can be seen comforting any sick or scared pets with the utmost care and compassion.
Andrea
Veterinary Nurse
Andrea started her role here as a Veterinary Nurse back in 2020. She has always had a major love for animals and has made her way through varying veterinary roles before finding her passion to be a veterinary nurse. Andrea enjoys assisting doctors with their patients throughout various medical needs; some of her favorite jobs include clipping and cleaning, ear treatments, and making sure all our hospitalized patients leave feeling clean and healthy. In her spare time, Andrea can be seen fluffing the bedding of hospitalized patients and playing with all the cats on the hospital floor.
Dr. Buck Drummond
Veterinarian
Dr. Buck Drummond grew up in Northern Virginia, always knowing he wanted to become a vet. He graduated from veterinary school at the University of Georgia in 1991. He spent the next 20 years practicing emergency medicine in Los Angeles before returning to the East Coast, eventually working in Georgia, South Carolina, DC, Connecticut, and Delaware. He now joins the Old Dominion team for the third time — he previously worked here as an assistant while in college in the 1980s, then as a doctor for several years until 2018.
Dr. Drummond is proud to be a board member of Paws of Honor, which provides free veterinary care to retired military and law enforcement working dogs.
He is also a writer, musician, and painter (some of his art can be found in the exam rooms here at Old Dominion.) He lives here in McLean with his husband Michael, a museum director, and their American foxhound, Tobias.
Dr. Bo Choi
Veterinarian
Dr. Bo Choi grew up in Seoul, South Korea. Her mother is an acupuncturist, and her father is a social worker in a hospital. Her parents instilled in her a desire to help others and that greatly influenced her desire to enter the medical field. Little Dr. Choi made a promise to her friend, who often watched a recorded National Geography in Korea series, to become a veterinarian just like the ones in the videos who helped injured wild animals.
She moved to America and continued to dream of becoming a veterinarian. After graduating from Virginia Tech, she got her veterinary degree at Ross University.
Dr. Choi was married six years ago, and she has a nine-month-old daughter, Dara. Among the hobbies Dr. Choi enjoys are bicycling, traveling, swimming, hiking, and spending time with her family. Her husband has two cockapoos, named Tank and Chloe, and she has a corgi named Papillion (butterfly in French). Papillion is a very jealous dog, and she does not want to share her mom with any other dogs. Tank and Chloe have to live with Dr. Choi’s parents. Dr. Choi is working very hard to train Papillion so they can live together one day.
Dr. Choi continues to strive to become a better veterinarian. In 10 years of practice, she has completed the following courses: NAVC soft tissue surgery course, Securos orthopedic course, oral pathology, oral radiology, oral surgery course, and IVAS acupuncture course.
Dr. Craig Felton
Veterinarian, Medical Director
Dr. Felton received a BS degree from Ashland University in 1973 and then spent a year of independent research at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center. In 1978, he received his DVM from Ohio State University. He has interests in internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, ultrasonography, laparoscopic diagnostics, and acupuncture (CUA).
Dr. Felton is blessed to have 2 beautiful daughters, Kelly and Lindsey, who still have their father wrapped around their fingers. 2013 was a milestone year as Dr. Felton officially became a grandparent for the first time. Dr. Felton is looking forward to spoiling his granddaughters and grandsons and the opportunity to talk gibberish and act like a kid again.
Now that he is in his sixties, Dr. Felton’s interests are a little more leisurely than athletic. His two previous passions, tennis and running, have given way to low-impact activities like kayaking and biking. White water kayaking is now morphing into less excitement and more the pursuit of the Zen stroke and reading the river perfectly. He still enjoys home improvement projects, especially those involving woodworking, and now that he has grandchildren, he has rediscovered his love of photography. Finally, gardening has been and will always be a form of meditation and a creative outlet for him.
Dr. Gordon Davis
Veterinarian, Semi-Retired to Management Advisor, Owner
Dr. Gordon Davis grew up in small-town Ohio and started working for a local veterinarian when he was just 9 years old. He attended Ohio State Veterinary School and then moved to Virginia in 1970 to start a practice in McLean and raise a family. Dr. Davis started a two-man, one-employee practice that has progressed to one of the largest privately held practices in the Washington Metropolitan area.
While practicing, Dr. Davis focused on small animal surgery and orthopedics, and he thoroughly enjoyed the challenges of his career. Dr. Davis’s wife is a dog and cat lover! Their son’s family includes R.J., Heidi, Spencer, and Jack. Their daughter’s family includes Bob, Lizanne, Kendall, and Brady. In his free time, Dr. Davis enjoys riding horses, racing horses, and woodworking.
